Fall Festival

Family Friendly Fun

Join the fun and participate in many fall-themed activities:


Family Activities

Hayride/Tractor rides: Free! Climb aboard for a good-old fashioned hayride around the Y. The
tractor makes a stop or two and kids can explore for hidden treasures in the hay!

Caramel Apple Creation Station: build your own caramel apple sundae at our decorating station for $3/person/apple. Delicious fun for all ages!

Create A Tile Coaster: kids can create a mosiac tile coaster that is uniquely theirs at this station. Ages 4 and younger will require parent/guardian assistance. $3/coaster.

Pumpkin Bowling: Use a pumpkin to knock over as many pins as possible. FREE! Everyone wins a piece of candy.

Pumpkin Seed Spitting Contest: spit the seed the furthest! FREE! Winner receives a prize.

Pumpkin Pitch: Bring your spare change to toss into a hollowed out pumpkin; receive a piece of candy for every successful pitch in.

Apple Launcher: place an apple in a giant slingshot and see how far you can propel the apple! Free!

Taste the Chili: starting at 1:30 pm, everyone can join in and sample ALL the chili - or just a few of your choice! Bottomless tasting cups for just $2. First come, first serve!

Taste the Salsa: FREE! Starting at 1:30 pm, first come, first serve.

DJ Music all day!
 

Chili Cook-off

Everyone grab their aprons and start mixing! This cook-off is going to be hot! Limited availability for this event, so make sure you reserve your seat! Off site making of 2 gallons of chili is required. Please bring an extension cord, crockpot/Nesco, and serving ladle. One person must stay to serve the chili.

A tent will be provided along with a table for participants. Tasting will start at 1:30 pm, and participants are to arrive by 12:30 pm to set up (can setup as early as 11:30 am). Samples will be collected at 12:45 pm for judging. Winners will be announced at 1:30 pm. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will receive aprons with gift cards.

This is a traditional chili cook-off. The products used do not have to be fresh products; canned food is acceptable. Please, no store bought chili! The judging will be on a 10 point scale with 4 categories: aroma, texture, appearance, and taste; maximum of 40 points.  One person must be designated as the Head Cook and must be at least 18 years old. Recipes need to be provided and will not be given to the public and is for judging purposes ONLY.  Cost is $10.00 per team. Complete registration form by 10/1/11.

Salsa Creation Contest

Anyone interested may enter the salsa contest, including the chili contestants. Salsa judging will take place right after the chili judging.  Salsas entered must be homemade (not purchased).  1-2 cups of salsa with chips is required for judging. Cost: $5

Miller & Mike
Comedy Show

Featuring the talents of former Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus clowns Miller & Mike, this family comedy show includes physical comedy, juggling, audience participation, magic, and other random acts of entertainment. Wonderful for all ages - tiny tots and adults alike will enjoy this variety show. Located inside the Y, in the gym. FREE! Show starts at 1:30.

Volunteers Needed For Fall Festival

Help is especially needed between 12:30 - 4:00 pm on Saturday. We need volunteers ages 16+ to work concessions and other activities. Please consider volunteering some of your time and help make this community event a success! Complete our online volunteer form or contact Becky for more information.

10 am: 5 on 5 Flag Football Tournament

11:30 am:  Chili cooks setup / Salsa content drop-off

12:45 pm: Chili Judging / Salsa Contest Judging

1 - 4 pm: Family Activities

1:30 to 2:15 pm: Miller & Mike Comedy Show

1:30 pm: Chili Tasting
